The MED-JELLYRISK Project involves 31 Associate Members, which in some way have responsibilities in MCZs management.
Balearia Foundation (Spain) is one of the associate members of the Project, and participates by providing their vessels to conduct jellyfish observations covering the routes to and from Barcelona and the Balearic Islands (Mallorca and Ibiza) and the routes to and from Denia and the Balearic Islands. The observations are made during day and night, and the presence of the different jellyfish species is registered, along with other animal groups, garbage and environmental variables like sea state, meteorology, wind and water temperature. These data will be used for the creation of a high quality database, which will be used to create risk maps and predictive models that are part of the main products of the project (http://jellyrisk.eu/en/about-the-project/work-packages/).
